A Virgin A Day ... Day 1

Good evening everyone,

It has been a while since our last post  .... and I must say we have Rebecca from recuerda mi corazon to thank for the kind nudge :) .... an invitation to take part in A Virgin A Day ... and her kind lovely link to our blog. This is the second year for us taking part in this event organized by Rebecca ... The wonderful sharing last year makes it a pleasure to relive those experiences again and am looking forward to enjoying all the posts this year and reconnect with the lovely souls I have gotten to know and make some new connections along the way ....

For this post, I invite you to join me as I take a little road down memory lane and share some objects from the long lost past. As we all start our own spiritual journeys, it does help to contemplate where our love or spiritual connection for Mary, Jesus, Buddha, Guan Yin, Green Tara, Shiva, Ganesh ... (I am just trying to include examples of many spiritual connections that could be the inspiration for you at this time) .... just perhaps, there was a past to your love ... be it Mary, Buddha, Shiva, Tara, Kwan Yin and so on....

today I take this opportunity to pay tribute to the grandmother I never met... I take the opportunity to share, savor and contemplate some of the artifacts that were passed down to me from her .... thank you for taking time to join me on this contemplation journey as I share them with you .... it is my greatest honor to have you as company ....

Here is an old Mater Dolorosa bust that belonged to Grandma.... So I sit here and wonder... what was her relationship with Mary .... ??? For some reason, I knew sooo little about her ... However I do know that she was an orphan in a nunnery started by French brothers and sisters.

On to the next artifact .... an old old dilapidated framed print of Our Lady of Perpetual Help.

Onto the last pair of small statues passed down to me.... looks like they are St Therese and St Bernadette....

As I pay tribute to the grandmother I never met, it is a warm thought to contemplate on these cherished artifacts from the long lost past. I go to sleep contemplating on  these two saints and how my grandparents practised their faith ... I ask you to take a moment to ponder on your inspirations and spiritual connections and if you so wish.... to join me ...  if you have some to share on your end.... i would be most pleased and honored to join you on your sharing and journey from your long lost past.... what inspires you and how you got to be inspired .... Sweet Dreams :)

LOVE and PEACE
Melinda

Thoughts .... Was Jesus Married?

An article in NY Times 3 days ago talks about a very controversial topic ...

"A historian of early Christianity at Harvard Divinity School has identified a papyrus fragment in the Coptic language that she says contains the first known statement saying that Jesus was married"

Here is the link to the article ....
http://www.nytimes.com/2012/09/19/us/historian-says-piece-of-papyrus-refers-to-jesus-wife.html?_r=0

Well.... how should we handle this news if it was proven true based on facts and science?

Will it change the Christian faith that much? Will it change our established belief systems, that of our Christian Faith?

It sounds incredible and heretical to many now ... but this has been in the news more than once and brought up by professors from more than one top university ... well... many have expressed that this is definitely not the case .... because of what they believe from the gospels and church authorities ....

Well .... my opinion is that the gospels can and should work with science. Our beliefs are very much just that ... they represent our faith ... what we believe ....
it is sort of like the scene of  " Was the Earth round" ... and despite all our preconceived beliefs... we have to accept the reality that the Earth is indeed round! So, just an analogy that if indeed that fact was proven about Jesus .... we will have to accept it ... but will it really change our faith that much? If so, how?

Just food for thought .... and a reminder that some things never change like those below.... They transcend all people and cultures .... let us put our minds on those universal thoughts instead....

PEACE
HOPE

Thanks for stopping by ! Blessings to you and yours!

Good and Evil ... They do Exist!

It has been a while since my last blog post and thought I'd do one today!

The movie theatre massacre in Colorado brings to mind how one individual, a 24 year old graduate student (James E. Holmes) through the power of his mind and actions, can in 1 night create so much destruction to humanity.... while we are all clamoring for more information as to why this young man would harm his fellow beings ... it is natural to want to come to conclusions for the sake of needing some sort of closure...

I urge all to take time away from the craziness of this world we live in and take time for YOU.

As many victims, their families and friends go through the long road to healing, ... we are reminded that to heal ... we need to forgive.... that is the only way.... and that is what meditation helps us do...to go into our hearts and seek that inner peace that defies all human understanding.... we are reminded that to love our neighbor also means loving our enemies too.... I recall from personal experience... how this made no sense to me at all for a long, long time.... until one day, I realized the freedom I got from finally forgiving my enemies! I recall feeling liberated and light.... it was like a stone was removed from my heart ... I then knew that was the answer to relieving much human suffering!

So we wonder ... how can we love our enemies... when they are so unloveable ? Well, I describe forgiveness as the type of love that we need to train our hearts to do.... it is an extremely effortful sort of love (at first at least)... that is difficult yet necessary.... it is like LOVE on STEROIDS!  There is one requirement to be successful in FORGIVENESS ... that is, it calls for us not to JUDGE ... now that is another difficult one, isn’t it? But one cannot LOVE and JUDGE at the same time. And our challenge is letting go of our emotions... some are angry, some are upset, some are confused... but we know we are all hurt  ...

If you encounter this message .... please ponder on your lives and just know how important  we are to one another ... and how when we are united in our desire to do good for one another... we can create a better world...

We see how one man can in one night  wreck so many lives through the power of his mind and hands.... Evil does exist!

May we rise beyond politics and stand united ... I am honestly tired of the political campaigns and the type of political brainwashing I hear on TV, radio and even a homily at a respectable church last night (go figure!!!) ... and I think we need to quietly observe, discern and contemplate with none of this BS and look for the true substance that will lead us down the good path. But truly, wouldn't it be nice if the loopholes in our system be worked out before tragedy like this strike??? It blows my mind how a 24 year old boy can get his sophisticated weapons and ammunition legally??? This is a whole other topic and I think it is time to digress ...

Love ... Peace .... Blessings to one and all....

Where will moXieantiques be headed in 2012?

My pleasure to be back after a whirlwind rollercoaster!

The deal with the house did not go through .... but I learnt many lessons and gained understanding which I otherwise would not... so all is good .... time and forgiveness will heal all and as we head right into 2012.... I wanted to touch base with everyone and just simply connect ....

moXieantiques has been at this for 1 year now and I would like to share with everyone our vision of what is ahead ....

Our vision of moXieantiques continues to be helping one another keep their faith one day at a time, whatever that faith means .... We seek to accomplish this by providing unique vintage and inspiring home decor... We have succeeded in  providing faith inspirations through specializing in european antique religious statues in 2011... We are being known for lovely french madonnas and european religious statues that show love and beauty through their age...

They were a hit and we are amazed at how many statues we have hand picked, sold and shipped to our customers in 2011...

Now what about 2012.. what are our plans? Some of my wonderful customers have asked us to get more word out about our shop on etsy... very kind of them... They think we have fabulous items hidden in a little alley here on moxieantiques.etsy.com .... waiting to be discovered.... We thank them for their encouraging words of hope. Here are our thoughts .... Our business will continue to be online and through word of mouth .... we believe that as long as we can continue to work hard to help you keep faith one day at a time by sourcing wonders for your home and heart, we will continue to be around for you. We reward customer loyalty and appreciate referrals to your friends!

In 2012, we will not only provide antique european statues, but will branch into higher end sculptures ... We will also head on to providing eastern statues and home decor!Think Green Tara, Kwan Yin, Avalokitesvara... as new additions...We would like to provide diverse faith inspirations to you and yours over the years ...

We are also contemplating on providing our services sourcing antiques you love.  We have an extensive network to pull from and would be glad to assist you. Interior Designers or Decorators are welcome to contact us if they see wonders in using our finds in their clients' home..

We also provide help selecting statues or items from our shop, and will objectively propose colors or items that work with your current home decor. We will require pictures in order to assist you.

In 2012, we are also working to become a real estate agent here in The Woodlands, Texas .... Will keep you posted on our progress...
You are right... we are adding more on our plate .... and by accident.... but we have a feeling the dots will all connect ... whether we realize them now or later....

We also have thoughts about other ventures like writing books to share our journey... but one at a time... will keep you posted every step of the way!!!!

thanks for reading and listening... !!!

Hugs

How to Choose My Statue !

Some of my customers have asked me "How do I know I have found a good statue? Can you pls help me find the perfect statue?"

And here are my thoughts and they come from my heart...

A statue that is perfect for you is one that speaks to you in words you cannot describe.  It speaks volumes to you, yet saying nothing!

A lovely statue is one that you can gaze at, be inspired and/or evoke an expression of awe.

A great statue helps you contemplate, pray and inspire you to beauty, truth and light!

A wonderful statue is one that inspires you to faith .... and helps you keep faith one day at a time in this sometimes crazy and turbulent times.

A statue that works for you is tasteful and has colors that fit your color theme and home decor style.. This is more important to some than others... but we have found that an important one...

To keep it simple, the perfect statue for you is the one you LOVE .... and is special to you... There are no rules to this ....

We wish you beauty, peace and love! And may you enjoy them all around you!

Here is a statue of mine that achieves the above!

Joan of Arc

We just got a load of statues to list ... so please check in from time to time!
